"Mt. Everest base camp marks the beginning point for the legendary climb up the highest mountain in the world. While few can hope to attempt the real summit, trekking to the primary base camp is achievable and a challenge in itself. I plan on beginning my trek in a village called Jiri, then hiking to the Nepali base camp. Jiri marks the end of all roads in the Khumbu region, so from that point hiking is the only way up! I will begin a 16 day climb to the base camp and estimated 9 days to return back, reaching heights of 5643m at the viewpoint Kala Pathar.

My name is Krista Montgomery, I'm a 21 year old Irish/American currently living in Switzerland. I've been fortunate enough to be able to finance this trip before returning to my studies in the coming fall.
