The Republic of Kenya is a country in Eastern Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the northeast, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest, with the Indian Ocean running along the southeast border.

Nairobi is the capital and the official languages are Swahili and English. Kenya has a population of 34 Mio. people and more than 20 Mio people are afflicted with poverty.

Maisha aims to help street and orphan children in the slums of Nairobi. These slums are located in Kibera to the east of Nairobi. The vast majority of the population of Nairobi lives in the slums.
