Mary was born in 2004. Her father died of Aids and her mother is now suffering from the same disease and is unable to take care of her children. She moved into the maisha home in October 2009 along with her older sister, Agnes.

Given the desperate situation of this family, maisha has accepted Mary into the home and is now urgently looking for a sponsor for her. She is currently attending class 2 of the Gituamba Primary School near to the home. Mary seems to have been really affected by her father's death and the knowledge that it is o­nly a matter of time before her mother dies too, but she is settling into the home well. She has quickly made friends and is always with Valentine. She loves to dance and is full of life.
